We were contacted by the Satellite Applications Catapult to produce a film marking the historic launch of the first first satellite from UK soil.

The film would feature a series of interviews with key players involved in the launch with footage from Goonhilly Earth Station, the launch platform, and the control room.

We wanted the film to have a science-fiction feel, especially for the interviews.

Our initial thought was to have the interviewees in a black void with small single point lights in the background to simulate stars in space. However we decided to proceed with dynamic and dramatic tube-lights positioned in an array behind the speakers, with each person having their own unique colour.

This provided a distinct look for the interviews, contrasting it to the handheld interview shoot for the other scenes.
